Roue de bicyclette (Bicycle Wheel), 1913 - Marcel Duchamp

Duchamp gave this bicycle wheel attached to a stool along with other objects like it (a bottle dryer, a snow shovel, a coat rack etc.) the name: "readymade". These items became artworks by being chosen by the artist and extracted from their function as useful things.
